“I decided to do this facelift because I want to be the best version of myself, and that makes me happy,” Jenner said in a new interview with ‘Vogue Arabia’

Kris Jenner is opening up about her decision to “refresh” her facelift.

The renowned momager and Vogue Arabia‘s September cover star, 69, shared details about her most recent cosmetic enhancement after her youthful appearance made headlines earlier this year.

“I had a facelift about 15 years ago, so it was time for a refresh,” she told the outlet in an interview published on Aug. 26. “I decided to do this facelift because I want to be the best version of myself, and that makes me happy.”

Jenner, who is celebrating her 70th birthday this November, then expanded on her outlook on aging. “Just because you get older, it doesn’t mean you should give up on yourself,” she explained. “If you feel comfortable in your skin and you want to age gracefully – meaning you don’t want to do anything – then don’t do anything. But for me, this is aging gracefully. It’s my version.”

Fans started to take notice in Jenner’s appearance earlier this year after a series of Instagram posts seem to unveil her upgraded glow. Speculations only grew in May when Jenner accompanied daughter Kim Kardashian to Paris at the trial of those suspected of being involved in Kardashian’s 2016 robbery, and when the duo later hit the town for friend Lauren Sánchez’s bachelorette party.

At the time, PEOPLE confirmed that the mom of six had undergone cosmetic enhancements from plastic surgeon Dr. Steven Levine in New York City, although Jenner herself didn’t reveal exactly what work she’d gotten done until now.

“I decided to reveal some details because I feel it can be very inspirational to people who aren’t feeling so great about themselves. Even when I had my hip replacement, we filmed it. I have the conviction that sharing these things can be helpful,” she told Vogue Arabia.

Jenner also confirmed who exactly was there to support her on surgery day. “Of course my daughter Kylie went with me, while Kim was present at all times on FaceTime,” she revealed.

Talking about plastic surgery is not new for Jenner, who has opened up about her procedures in the past. In 2015, she detailed her decision to undergo multiple breast augmentations, one of which was done to revise her breast implants from the 1980s, on E! Entertainment’s Good Work series. Then, in 2018, she famously underwent an earlobe reduction during an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. One year later, she confirmed that Botox is an enhancement she’d been getting done for “a long time.”

Recently, she reflected on her 2011 facelift by Dr. Garth Fisher, the surgeon who went viral after Kylie Jenner revealed she had gotten a breast augmentation done by the Beverly Hills, Calif., surgeon. “[Fisher] made it the most amazing experience ever and even gave us access to film so that others could get a peek inside what it’s like and not be afraid,” Jenner wrote on Instagram in June.

Jenner’s journey to a rejuvenated look is only one part of her new chapter ahead, one that will see her stepping into a new decade of life. “I don’t know what 70 is supposed to feel like, but I feel great and I’m happy to be there,” she told Vogue Arabia, adding that retirement isn’t yet in her cards. “My mom worked until she was 82, and I’m planning on following suit…Maybe 85?”
