According to a report by Russian Television Today (RT) on the 20th, last week, some photos appeared on social media in Indonesia, showing a mysterious “tank” floating in the sea, and this “tank” quickly became popular. The Indonesian military subsequently admitted that this strange incident did occur, but said it could not salvage the floating object.

Local Indonesian media reported that these photos were taken by oil rig workers operating in the southernmost waters of the South China Sea. One of the photos shows the “tank” floating in the sea, with turrets and artillery clearly visible. Although the object looks rusty, some of its external equipment is intact, including a spare external fuel tank and a tow rope.
In another photo, an anchored ship is trying to salvage the floating “tank.” According to reports, the ship tried to approach it, but was unable to approach due to the turbulent sea.

The Indonesian military admitted that this bizarre incident had occurred. Indonesian military major Saul Jamlaay (Saul Jamlaay) told local media on the 19th that reports about the discovery of “tank-like objects” are true, but “the object is not dangerous.” The official stated that the tank-shaped object belonged to a local oil and gas company and was washed away from an offshore drilling platform.
