Donald Trump is clapping back at Charlamagne Tha God after he shared some serious thoughts about the Jeffrey Epstein files. Charlamagne recently suggested conservatives might use the Epstein saga to shake up the Republican Party, and judging by his response, Trump was not having it.

What Did Charlamagne Tha God Say About Trump And The Epstein List?

Charlamagne stepped into the lion’s den when he appeared on Lara Trump’s Fox News show, ‘My View with Lara Trump,’ on Saturday, August 2. He didn’t hold back, dropping some bold predictions about the Republican Party’s future. Charlamagne suggested that the ongoing controversy around the Jeffrey Epstein files could be a game-changer for traditional conservatives looking to reclaim the GOP from the MAGA movement.

“I think that traditional conservatives are going to take the Republican Party back,” he told Lara, adding, “I think this Epstein thing is going to be a way for traditional conservatives to take their party back, I really do.”

Additionally, he even called the situation a “political coup” within the party, hinting that the Epstein files are keeping MAGA supporters fired up but could open the door for a shift. The ‘Breakfast Club’ host also shared his thoughts on what he thinks about Trump’s return as President so far, saying,  “I wouldn’t give [him] a good rating, simply because the least of us are still being impacted the worst. Right now, people are hurting.”

How Donald Trump Responded

Trump didn’t waste much time before letting Charlamagne have it. On Sunday, August 3, he reportedly took to Truth Social with a fiery response. He started by showing love to his daughter-in-law’s show, calling Lara “very wonderful and talented” and her program a “big ratings success.” However, he then turned his attention to Charlamagne, labeling him a “racist sleazebag” and a “Low IQ individual.”

Trump didn’t stop there, though, questioning why Charlamagne uses “The God” in his name, writing, “Why is he allowed to use the word ‘GOD’ when describing himself? Can anyone imagine the uproar there would be if I used that nickname?” He went on to claim Charlamagne “has no idea what words are coming out of his mouth” and knows nothing about Trump’s accomplishments, like “ending 5 Wars” and “creating the greatest economy.” Additionally, Trump even took a jab at Charlamagne’s political leanings, saying, “This dope, Charlamagne, would vote for Sleepy Joe or Kamala?”

Charlamagne Issues Response To Trump’s Jab

Whew! Charlamagne came with the quickness after Trump dragged him into his latest rant. The 47-year-old took to Instagram on Sunday, August 3, clapping back, saying Trump’s “scraping the bottom of the Black barrel” by coming for him after targeting celebs like Oprah Winfrey, Beyoncé, and Barack Obama. “You can’t go from MLK Jr., Obama, Oprah, Beyoncé, to a sleezebag named Lenard,” he said, joking that Trump should’ve aimed for Urkel instead, referring to the fictional character, Steve Urkel, from ‘Family Matters.’ Additionally, Charlamagne doubled down on a “political coup” brewing in the Republican Party. He concluded his caption by giving a shoutout to Lara for having him on her show. See his full response below. 

Trump Has Been Facing Backlash Over Apparent Lack Of Transparency Regarding The Epstein Files

The Jeffrey Epstein case has been a thorn in Trump’s side, especially since he promised during the 2024 campaign to release files related to the disgraced financier, who died in prison in 2019. But since taking office, Trump’s administration has hit the brakes, with the Justice Department stating there’s no “client list” and no more documents to release. This U-turn has sparked outrage among the public, including MAGA supporters, who expected full transparency.

Some Republicans, like House Speaker Mike Johnson, have pushed back, calling the Epstein case “not a hoax” and demanding more answers, per CBS News. Charlamagne’s comments tapped into this tension, suggesting the controversy could empower traditional conservatives to challenge the administration. Meanwhile, reports revealed Attorney General Pam Bondi briefed Trump in May 2025 that his name allegedly appears in the Epstein files, per CNN, though there’s no evidence of wrongdoing. Not to mention, Trump’s been dodging questions about Epstein, even snapping at reporters.
