INDIANA Fever star Sophie Cunningham has lifted the lid on her friendship with teammate Caitlin Clark.
Cunningham, 29, played an enforcer role for the Fever this year, often looking to protect Clark from physical treatment received from opposition defenders.

The former second-round pick has emerged as a cult hero alongside superstar Clark, but unfortunately both players have been ruled out of the WNBA playoffs by long-term injuries.
As she continues to rehab an MCL issue, Cunningham hopped on the Young Man and the Three podcast for a lengthy interview.
During her chat with host Tommy Alter, the former Phoenix Mercury star discussed how she keeps her pal Clark grounded.
“She’s just a big kid, you know what I mean,” Cunningham began.
“She is so phenomenal and so elite at her craft. A generational talent.
“I don’t think I have to hype her up anymore. In fact, we need to get her head a little bit down, and that’s what I’ve done.
“We’ve had a fun relationship so far. She loves hard, but at the end of the day she’s like one of my little cousins. She’s the age of them, she acts like. I’m just like, ‘Dude, you’re a dweeb.’
“Like, you are the biggest dork I’ve probably ever met, and just somehow you know how to shoot from far out.
“And you’re really great at passing.”
Clark, 23, has been ruled out with a groin strain since July 15.
Cunningham, meanwhile, has not played since August 17.
Despite being missing several key players, the Fever have embarked on an improbable post-season run.
Stephanie White’s squad upset the odds to beat the Atlanta Dream in round one of the playoffs, their first series win in a decade.
The Fever lost game one 80-68 to the Dream, before tying the series with a 77-60 win at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
They then trailed for much of game three, but went ahead via Aaliyah Boston’s bucket in the closing seconds – winning 87-85.
The victory set up a mouthwatering series against the formidable Las Vegas Aces.

Indiana stunned A’ja Wilson and Co in game one, winning 89-73 in Vegas off the back of a 34-point explosion by Kelsey Mitchell.
The Aces subsequently levelled the series, blowing out the Fever 90-68 in game two.
The two teams will meet again at Gainbridge Fieldhouse tonight.
Game four is then scheduled for Sunday evening.
