THE NCAA has banned three men’s college basketball stars for sports betting.
It’s been concluded that the three former basketball players bet on themselves and one another.

The NCAA Committee on Infractions shared findings from an enforcement investigation that found that Mykell Robinson, Steven Vasquez, and Jalen Weaver participated in a “sports-betting related game manipulation” scheme.
Robinson and Weaver, both of whom played at Fresno State, and Vasquez, who represented San Jose State, gave information that allowed others to bet on their own games during the 2024-25 regular season.
And Weaver and Robinson also manipulated their performances to make sure certain bets were won.
The trio’s eligibility has been permanently revoked.
The NCAA revealed a sports integrity monitoring service in January informed Fresno State and NCAA enforcement staff that a Nevada sportsbook operator had flagged suspicious prop bets on Robinson.
A week later, an investigation was made.
Robinson and Vasquez were roommates at Fresno State during the 2023-24 season, per the NCAA.
In January, Robinson and Vasquez, who played for San Jose State, exchanged text messages that Robinson planned to disappoint in numerous statistical categories during a regular-season game.
The NCAA also spotted that Robinson had placed multiple bets on Weaver, his former Fresno State teammate.
One particular game that drew attention to Robinson was Fresno State’s January 7 matchup with Colorado State.
There were three bets based on Robinson’s performance: one was $200 to win $1,450, the second was $800 to win $5,800, and the third was $1,200 to win $8,700, the NCAA said.
Investigators noticed that, before that contest, Robinson instructed his mom to transfer money by Apple Pay to Vasquez so he could place a $200 bet on Robinson’s under-line for Robinson.
Then, after the game, the NCAA revealed Vasquez helped Robinson transfer $1,425 of the winnings to Robinson’s mother.
Three days later, on January 10, Vasquez gave $200 to Robinson.

Robinson also placed bets on Weaver before a December 2024 game after he and Weaver gave information about their respective betting lines, the NCAA shared.
Weaver also placed a $50 prop bet on a parlay for himself, Robinson, and a third player, and he won $260.
The NCAA revealed Vasquez and Robinson did not cooperate with the enforcement staff’s investigation.
Weaver, meanwhile, cooperated and agreed to the violation.

All three players were dropped from their respective teams and are no longer enrolled at their previous colleges.
Neither school has been punished.
Vasquez, however, had already been removed from San Jose State as he graduated in May.
