UNDER Armour’s failure to land a deal with WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark was reportedly a “sore point” for Steph Curry.

Curry, 37, signed with Under Armour back in 2013.
The Golden State Warriors guard launched his own Curry Brand as a standalone label five years ago.
But he split from the company on November 13, claiming he had helped “change the game” with the partnership.
“This decision was made thoughtfully and respectfully, with a shared sense of pride in what we built together,” Under Armour and a public relations firm representing Curry said in a joint statement.
“[There is] a mutual understanding that a separation was best for both Under Armour and Stephen Curry.”
Reports from Bloomberg suggest Curry “became frustrated by what they viewed as under-investment in the brand.”
In 2024, Clark signed a long-term deal with Nike worth a reported $28 million.
She had been a Nike athlete since 2022.
Under Armour’s offer to Clark, the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, trailed the total value of Nike’s pitch, the report claims.
The failure to land Clark was seen as a “sore point” to Curry.
Despite their split, Curry and Under Armour still have one last project together to complete.
The company will debut the final Curry shoe in February 2026, per the separation agreement.
Curry featured against the Portland Trail Blazers last week and rocked a pair of Nike sneakers on court.
Earlier this week, the WNBA has moved closer to a lockout following the latest salary negotiations.
ESPN reports that key demands have not been agreed upon as negotiations stall.
It is understood that the proposal included a revenue sharing component that would allow players to earn more than $1.1 million.
This deal would create a league minimum salary of more than $220,000.
The league’s minimum salary in 2025 was $66,079.
But the players’ union is unsatisfied that the agreement sees players reimbursed in line with the league’s growth.
