WEST VIRGINIA caused an incredible upset against No 15 Duke despite having six players ejected following an on-court brawl.
The Mountaineers won 57-49 in a famous victory after only five available players – Sydney Shaw, Loghan Johnson, Sydney Woodley, Celia Riviere and Riley Makalusky – were left on the court.

It came after a skirmish before halftime triggered by a disagreement between Dukes’ Jordan Wood and West Virginia’s Jordan Harrison.
After Woods blocked Harrison’s attempt at a shot, she yelled at her rival.
Harrison pushed Wood before a melee broke out, with a few other players also pushing each other back and forth.
It led to five Mountaineers players leaving the bench to join the bust-up – Gia Cooke, Carter McCray, Madison Parrish, Kierra Wheeler and Jordan Thomas.
All five players were ejected for leaving the bench, while Harrison and wood were also ousted.
At the time, the Mountaineers were losing 23-20 going into halftime and were without their top scorer Cooke after her ejection.
But they produced a stunning turnaround as Riviere finished with 12 points, including eight rebounds and three assists.
The group’s heroic effort was saluted by coach Mark Kellogg, who raved about his players after the game.
He told ESPNU: “Disappointed in the ending of the half. I think we are better than that, we are going to learn a huge lesson.
“You see in sports things like that happen; there’s just something where you rally around each other.
“I’m so proud of that group of five. I guess it’s one of those moments where you don’t really know what to say. But that’s as good a win as I’ve probably ever had.”
On Riviere’s performance, he added: “She was fantastic. We changed her spot in the zone and told her, ‘Don’t even really try to score, just be available to rebound on the defensive end’.
“But she’s a talented kid. She has great hands and is our best passer out of the post. Sydney Shaw stepped up big time, too.”
Meanwhile, Shaw – the only starter not ejected – was the leader on 16 points, including seven rebounds and five straight free throws to secure their famous victory.
West Virginia has now moved to a record of 6-12 against ranked teams, with 2-3 when playing at a neutral venue.
The team next play Appalachian State on November 20, with a 10:15am tip-off.
For the Dukes, they drop to 2-2 for the season after shooting 38 per cent from the field.
Guard Taina Mair was the only player who reached double figures with ten points, including four rebounds and four assists.
