WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark has decided to participate in a sports tournament, but it won’t be on the basketball court.

The Indiana Fever guard’s career switch comes after a second season that ended early due to numerous injuries.

Clark played just 13 games and was ruled out for the rest of the season on September 4 due to a groin injury.

She watched her Fever reach the playoffs again, but were eliminated by the eventual WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces in the semifinals.

With the offseason underway, Clark will make a trip to Florida this fall to play golf.

On Thursday, it was announced that the 23-year-old Clark will return to play in the LPGA’s pro-am, The Annika, at Pelican Golf Club next month.

“I had an amazing time at The Annika last November and participating in the pro-am alongside Nelly Korda and Annika Sorenstam, two of the best in the game,” Clark said.

“I’m honored to be an ambassador for a company in Gainbridge that is so committed to elevating women’s sports.

“I can’t wait to return to Tampa in November to play in the Pro-Am with the best women golfers in the world.”

The pro-am is on November 12 and will be open to the public.

This is Clark’s second consecutive year taking part in the event.

Last fall, she played alongside LPGA stars Nelly Korda and Annika Sorenstam.

Clark has a multi-year brand ambassadorship deal with Gainbridge Insurance, the main sponsor of the event.

She brought plenty of buzz to the event in 2024.

Ticket sales were reportedly 12 times the previous event’s total.

Clark’s first injury occurred in a July 15 game against the Connecticut Sun.

She then suffered a right groin injury that kept her sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.

Before the injury, Clark was averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and five rebounds in 15 games.
