It is understood that the Lakers legend is yet to decide whether he will retire at the end of the season.

The legendary guard “remains undecided” about his future according to Bleacher Report.

James has suffered a delayed start to his 23rd season in the NBA.

He has missed the opening stages of the Lakers’ campaign after suffering an injury.

The veteran dealt with sciatica which sidelined him for the Lakers’ first games of the season.

James finally made his season debut against the Utah Jazz earlier in November.

He had briefly practiced with the Lakers’ G League affiliate team in South Bay with suggestions that he could play in the development league.

But he was eventually recalled to the franchise before playing a game in South Bay.

James has already flirted with suggestions of his retirement this season.

His collaboration with Hennessy has caused controversy after it was dubbed as the “Second Decision”.

This was a reference to his decision to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat in 2010.

One fan is even suing James over claims that he was teasing the announcement to be his retirement.

James made history last season after becoming the first father to play alongside his son in NBA history as he lined up with Bronny, now 21.

But he had admitted that he will not wait for his second son Bryce, 18, to join the NBA for him to retire.

This could be a crucial detail as Bryce has decided to redshirt his first season of college basketball with the Arizona Wildcats.

James has also explained that he is not looking to play at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics despite winning the gold medal at Paris 2024.

However, James remains a key player for the Lakers as he scored 25 points against the LA Clippers in the NBA Cup.

The Lakers will return to NBA Cup action against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday.
